Slammin’…. WIN a FREE entry for Robie Creek

Still need a number for the 2013 Race to Robie Creek? How about a chance to snag that number from a random drawing? We have that number for one lucky winner and here is how you get into the action…

Michael Lebowitz of Long Run Picture Company (and photographer of the 2011 & 2012 Foothills Frenzy 50K and 2012 Idaho Trail Ultra Series) is preparing for his latest project and we are excited to generate some buzz and help contribute to the effort. Slammin’: Voices from the Middle of the Pack-The 2013 Ultra Grand Slam will chronicle in print and photograph the participants in this years Western States 100, Vermont 100, Leadville Trail 100, & Wasatch Front 100 mile races…yeah, all four events to complete the grand slam!!! The 2013 grand slam is interesting enough with 2 ultrarunning elites (Ian Sharman & Nick Clark) pursuing the slam record, but the Treasure Valley has 2 runners participating as well (Dennis Ahern & Ryan Lund), adding to our “local” interest.

Here’s how you can get the Robie entry (and support the book)…For every $10 you donate, you will be entered into the random drawing. There is no limit on the number of entries, and you must donate in store at The Pulse Running & Fitness Shop. All donations must be received by 3:00 pm Sunday, March 31st. The winner of the Robie entry will be drawn Monday, April 1st. Special rewards for each donation level are also available and those along with all of the “Slammin’” information is available by clicking on the link above. Good luck and thank you for supporting this exciting project :)

Aldape Summit FKT

NEW FKT Course and Contest

The Race to Robie Creek is one of the most prominent methods we use to measure ourselves as local runners, as well as providing us with an immensely popular run to both love & hate. As a result of Robies influence on all of us, the newest FKT course embraces the challenges of training and racing it, plus gives everyone some chances to score some sweet running schwag in the process.

Its been a while since our last FKT, so we have included our brief history and introduction to the subject here… As far as we can tell, FKT (fastest known time) is a concept that originated in the mountain running communities around Colorado, where the feats of some of the athletes have become somewhat legendary…some surviving decades with equally unbelievable characters matching up to the accomplishments. FKTs are now being established and challenged all over the globe. While we have our share of speedsters chasing the local FKTs, we also like to put our own twist on the meaning of FKT… including FUNNEST known time. For this months FKT, we  will honor the top mens and womens performances as usual, and draw our grand prize winner from all of the submitted results. Course results must be submitted by a GPS enabled device, with time and course details. Now for the contest guidelines…. Continue reading
